About RailNexus

RailNexus is a real-time project coordination portal built by Wilson & Company for freight and passenger rail operations. It centralizes field service requests, public project agreements, and scheduling coordination across all territories in a single live platform — giving railroad teams full visibility into every active request.

How It Works
1

One URL — every active project

Every field service request, public project agreement, and scheduling record across all territories lives in a single live platform. Visibility is built in.

2

Filter to what your team needs

Narrow by territory, status, and project particulars. Your team sees exactly what's relevant — nothing more. Filters persist across sessions.

3

Export reports. Close faster.

Pull branded exports on demand with full Wilson & Company attribution and timestamps. For changes, submit a request or reach your Wilson & Company project manager directly.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is RailNexus?
RailNexus is Wilson & Company's real-time coordination platform for railroad stakeholders. It brings field service requests, public project tracking, and scheduling coordination into one live portal, replacing spreadsheets and email threads with a single source of truth.
Who has access to this portal?
Access is provisioned by the Wilson & Company team for railroad stakeholders, contractors, and Wilson & Company staff. Each organization receives its own credentials, and each user sees the level of detail appropriate to their role.
How is data in the portal updated?
The portal reflects live data. Field service requests, scheduling records, and project statuses update in real time as the Wilson & Company team processes them — no manual refresh cycles or weekly report uploads.
How do I reach my Wilson & Company project manager?
Your Wilson & Company project manager is available by phone and email. If you're not sure who your point of contact is, reach the team at RailNexus@wilsonco.com and they will connect you.
Scheduling Agent Module

The Scheduling Agent module manages field service requests and coordinates scheduling for both Railroad Worker in Charge (RWIC) and Utility Inspection Coordinator (UIC) personnel across all territories. Submit new requests, track status in real time, and view active assignments by territory.

What a UIC Does

  • Monitors utility work within railroad right-of-way for compliance with railroad standards
  • Coordinates with railroad engineering and operations during active encroachment
  • Verifies permits, agreements, and approved plans are on site
  • Documents daily field activity and provides written reports

When a UIC is Required

  • New utility crossings or parallel encroachments within railroad right-of-way
  • Repair, replacement, or inspection of existing utilities near active track
  • Horizontal directional drilling (HDD) beneath main lines
  • Any work covered under a utility permit agreement
How do I submit a field service request?
Use the field service request form linked from the RailNexus landing page and module selector. Wilson & Company's team will confirm the required coordinator type (RWIC vs. UIC) based on your scope and the applicable agreement.
How much lead time do I need?
Submit requests as early as possible — lead time depends on territory, coordinator availability, and the railroad's requirements for your work type. Your Wilson & Company project manager can confirm the expected lead time for your request.
What is an RWIC?
A Railroad Worker in Charge (RWIC) — also called a flagger — protects workers and contractors performing work on or near active track by establishing on-track safety and coordinating with train operations.
What is a UIC and how is it different from an RWIC?
A Utility Inspection Coordinator (UIC) oversees utility work within railroad right-of-way — verifying permits, monitoring compliance, and documenting field activity. An RWIC provides on-track safety protection. UIC scheduling is managed through the same Scheduling Agent module as RWIC services.
What does each service request status mean?
Each field service request moves through a live status pipeline — from submitted, to in-review, to scheduled, to completed — so you always know exactly where your request stands.
Which flagging vendors does Wilson & Company coordinate with?
Wilson & Company coordinates scheduling across the railroad's approved flagging vendors for each territory. Vendor assignment is handled during scheduling based on availability and territory coverage.
